19th-Sep-2008 01:07 pm - In the Heights - oh, what a night!
hj:easterbonnet
Just a quick note to say that I saw In the Heights last night with [info]shutterbug93 , and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.  Truly amazing: amazing music, lots of heart and real feeling, plus an overabundance of musical, technical and creative talent in every area.  I was blown away.  In fact, there were moments when I wanted to cheer but all I could do was clap with all my might because I was utterly speechless.

I had a chance to meet the very gracious Doreen Montalvo after the show, and caught up with Shaun Taylor-Corbett once again as well.

A great night!

18th-Sep-2008 02:31 pm - I'm back...

Back from the cruise, worked out (as I did every day on the cruise!), doing laundry now and looking for the info I need about tonight's show in NYC with [info]shutterbug93 !  Yay!

Cruising was not really my cup of tea.  Perhaps with better food and better service ... but this was not great.  Too hot in Bermuda for me too, though I valiantly got off the ship both days to wander a bit.

Glad to be home!

12th-Sep-2008 10:09 pm - still not packed...

But I've started, and the laundry's done.  So it won't be too much more work.  I HATE PACKING!

In fact, I hate the preparation for traveling.

Next time I play the lottery game I'm totally going to plan on owning a house or flat anywhere I like to travel - so I can leave stuff there and not have to pack!  But I guess I'll have to have an assistant to do my packing when I go for vaca further afield.

Anyway, tomorrow is the day!  I'm on the train at 10 am, to be joined by [info]camille_is_here  in Philly, and then we're off to the ship, which sails out of Baltimore at 4pm.  Woohoo!

Back home Thursday, and then it's off to NYC for Thursday and Friday evenings with [info]shutterbug93  at the theater!

Saturday morning we head off to Wisconsin to see Peter Mulvey in concert at the last show in his 2008 No Gasoline Tour!  Check out that fabulous video!

Then it's off to Green Bay to visit with family, and see the Packers take on the Cowboys at Lambeau!

What a week!

1st-Sep-2008 07:33 pm - another beautiful day

what a fabulous day!  The whole 3-day weekend has been perfect weather - sunny, 80s, low humidity.  I'm in heaven.  After a good workout and a little more reorganizing in the houes today we hopped in the car and headed for the shore.  A walk on the boardwalk in Spring Lake and Italian ice in Belmar, beautiful drive ... what could be better?

Life is good...

Robin:DenaliStPk
It's a beautiful day, and here I am inside!  That can't be right.  I've been cleaning: getting rid of old clothes and vcr tapes and finding things to donate to the library or thrift shop in an effort to bring some order to my home.  But it's time to get out for a bit.  Off to a little town to see if any of the shops are open - we can walk up and down the street at least - and then try to find a restaurant with a patio or sidewalk to sit on for a bit if it's not too warm.  I need sunshine!

I'm sure I'm not the first one to notice this, and I'm not saying they look alike, but ...

And just as a by the way, David Boreanaz has only improved with age...

... oh, never mind, I see you already have!

Meanwhile, I've had several excellent meals lately.

Sunday, at the wedding reception, I gulped when I saw the table was set with 5 forks.  I knew we'd be eating for quite a while!
A stunning salad course, tasty tofu-veggie Pad Thai, an excellent salmon course with a small, sweet cherry pepper, a small spoon of strawberry sorbet, and a choice of a pork loin or complex and reportedly delicious chicken dish.  I missed the dessert as I was too exhausted (and full) for more.  The appetizers were fabulous too.  Wow.

Tonight, a nice dinner at Europa with good wine, good company, and great creme brulee to top off the meal.

I need to work out tomorrow.  A lot.  All I had time for today was a little yoga.

But right now I'm more inclined towards sleep!

So I spent three hours on a small motor boat yesterday, drifting along the Chesapeake Bay after a crab pot became entangled with our motor virtually as soon as we left the dock.  The motion of a drifting boat is not all that pleasant, especially when it is combined with a piece of 60th anniversary cake.  However, all in all, the 10 people aboard, including 5 kids, held up pretty well, sang songs, and waited for help.  There was the part when three kids took an ill-advised swim and had to be rescued, but hey, live and learn and fortunately continue to live, right?

Very glad to be on dry land now.

J and I got out to the theater this afternoon, paying $9.75 each to see the latest installment in the X:Files saga.
